The 4th MFA Biennial was on view from February 10 to March 25, 2018. This contemporary exhibition featured bodies of artwork from a selection of Masters of Fine Arts students attending local universities. The diverse collection of works selected, including painting, installation, photography, drawing, and sculpture illustrated the broad range of artwork being made by these dedicated students of the arts. In its fourth iteration here, this exhibit offered insight into the continually evolving themes, subjects, and methods being utilized by these talented artists. This show continues relationships with exceptional schools such as California State Universities Fullerton, Long Beach, and Northridge, as well as Claremont Graduate University and Otis College of Art and Design.
The 33rd Annual Made in California exhibition was on view from April 21 to June 15, 2018. Even after 33 years, this annual exhibition was anything but traditional. Each spring the Brea Gallery invites contemporary artists with diverse skills, varying approaches, and unique ideas to help us paint a picture of what it means to be creative in California. This year’s show was made up of nearly ninety bold, provocative, inspiring, and just plain beautiful works of art. With everything from intricate pencil drawings, to powerful abstract portraits, to whimsical sculptures, and stunning photography, this exhibit had a bit of something for everyone.
